The King’s Road

The King’s Road (‘Kuninkaantie’ in Finnish), also known as the Great Coastal Road, is a historical road that runs through Kaarina from west to east. Occasional sections of the old road with an authentic feel are preserved. Along the route, there are places of natural and cultural interest, including prehistoric relics, country manors, old villages, recreational areas, nature trails and environmental protection areas.

When Finland was part of the kingdom of Sweden, the King’s Road provided an important connection from the capital of Stockholm via Turku to Vyborg, currently part of Russia.
